Firefox Downloaded 7 Million+ Times & Counting Within 24 Hours

In under 24 hours Mozilla’s Firefox browsed has surpassed 7 million downloads, right now (Wednesday 23rd March) the stats show 7.3 million downloads, though I suspect that will double in the next 24-48 hours. The download figures for Firefox are close to double that of Microsofts Internet Explorer 9 — and we thought the downloads were pretty high for that.

Unlike Microsoft and other browser developers, Mozilla thought it would be different to allow users to see how many times it had been downloaded on a public website, a very well designed one at that. Even the name is awesome: Glow.

Mozilla are yet to make any announcement, even though 7 million users have downloaded this newly revamped feature and design wise browser.

Firefox launched in over 80 languages and available to all major desktop platforms. Many new features have been announced, App Tabs, Panorama — with many people suggesting the new Firefox is much faster than Google’s Chrome. That I doubt.
