Facebook Paying Users To Watch Adverts

Facebook will now reward users with Facebook Credits when they watch certain ads. These Credits can be redeemed to purchase goods on Facebook Deals, the company’s daily deals service. This added credit bonus however, is not huge. The average ad will reward one credit, which is equivalent to 10 cents.

The ads are most likely to appear in games from lead publishers; CrowdStar, Digital Chocolate and Zynga. Facebook is working with Sharethrough, SocialVibe, Epic Media and SupersonicAds to serve ads on the program as well as TrialPay, which will provide the analytics.

CEO of Sharethrough, Dan Greenberg says Facebook’s move represents “a step away from interruptive advertising.” Greenberg says his network won’t deliver traditional advertising but rather branded entertainment, which consumers will want to watch and share with friends.
