Sony’s Playstation Network service, akin to Xbox LIVE but for the PS3, has continued to see downtime over this easter weekend, now with the service being down for the fifth day and no expected or planned return. Sony has stressed that it is caused by an “external intrusion”, and that they are currently working with their back end developers to ensure that there is no exploit for further hacks into the system, however many have speculated that this was simply a cover-up for a larger-than-expected problem with their internal systems. When a user tries to connect to the PSN, they are simply prompted with an unhelpful maintenance error message – but hopefully people have been enjoying the beautiful weather that has hit the UK and other parts of the world over the long easter weekend, and that the network will be back up soon.
