Twitter Launches Twitter Stories – The Power of A Single Tweet

Following the footsteps of Facebook Stories and Google Stories, here comes Twitter Stories, a new marketing initiative by Twitter that aims to showcase interesting stories of the social media service.

Twitter Stories, is not to be confused with Twitter Tales, another outreach effort that debuted last year with the mission to present “a series of quirky and inspiring articles” based on users’ answers to question, “How do you use Twitter”. Even if the goal of the two sites seems identical, Twitter Stories offers a broader range of anecdotes. Among the tales, there’s a story about a man who found a donor after tweeting “Sh*t, I need a kidney”, Chad Ochocinco taking his Twitter followers out to dinner and Japanese fishermen who sell the day’s catch via Twitter.

One of the more creative and collaborative stories featured is that of a prolific amateur cook and writer who tweets recipes daily to her many followers:” Nearly every day, Maureen Evans tweets a new recipe. Her knack for haiku and her cleverness to reduce recipes to their essential elements have combined into a steady stream of Twitter recipes. Her followers reply with their own creations and give comments and suggestions, contributing to a global cuisine conversation”.

For now, there are just under 20 of these stories, but you can go on and submit your own if you have Twitter to thank for something. Most of them focus on the rather random way in which tweets can make a connection between two people and how just a simple tweet can be spread and seen by millions.

Twitter users can get updates of new Twitter Stories as they are posted by following @twitterstories or they can check back every month for a new set of stories.
