Meant to be a challenge in the face of giant Facebook, a new social network has been recently unveiled. Not performing at its full potential yet, since the press release announced a beta version, but Unthink claims to be the next big thing.
The focus of attention for the Unthink team seems to be the Anti-Facebook position, declared in all on the site and explained with visual elements.
Sarah Perez published yesterday on TechCrunch one review that sure is spot-on about the Unthink chances and faulty communication strategy. “Unthink is the kind of startup that could only come from outside of traditional tech hotspots like Silicon Valley or New York, as there’s a certain level of audacity, and perhaps even ignorance, that you need in order to think you have a shot at displacing social networking giant Facebook and all of its 800 million users.” Perez wrote.
Even if it looks like a shabby new kid on the block, Unthink is a company based in Tampa, which raised $2.5 million funding from DouglasBay Capital. The Unthink teams are reportedly working for the past three years on this project. The new social network promises to empower the users, to give control over communication to the “unthinkers”(yes, they needed three years to come up with the idea of calling the fans that).
But, really now, does Unthink have a place in the tight social network war? We already have Google Plus, is there another worthy rival for Facebook?
